May Day: What It Is and Why It Matters

May Day (or International Workers’ Day) – which falls on May 1st, 2026 – is quickly approaching and in this period where the state is consolidating its power to repress the workers movement, the relevance of May Day to the workers is becoming even more clear. As economic conditions worsen to the point where the forty hour work week no longer provides a living wage, its relevance to the workers increases by orders of magnitude.
